FAST/HAL
Location:  East of Pueblo, CO   38.441446, -104.286155  Google map   
Railroad: Association of American Railroads (AAR); connected to BNSF and UP
Significance: Facility for Accelerated Service Testing: Equipment and track testing facility at what was the U.S.DOT High
Speed Ground Test Center.  The over-all facility which adjoins the Pueblo Army Depot is now known as the AAR
Transportation Test Center.   
Note: In 1997 the test center became a non-profit subsidiary of the AAR  
Note: the HAL stands for high axle-load testing.
Feather River Canyon
Location:  Northern California, between Oroville and Portola, CA    Google map   
Railroad:  UP (ex WP)
Significance:  Key east-west route through difficult terrain, particularly the actual canyon between Oroville and Portola.
Site info: The best known location on the line is the Keddie Wye. Other well known locations on the line are the Williams
Loop, and Clio Trestle.

The Northwest Funnel
Location:   Sandpoint ID
Railroad:  BNSF  
Significance:  Confluence of several high traffic lines to one line across the panhandle of Idaho.
The Folkston Funnel
Location:   Folkston, GA   N 30.83056, W 82.00769   
Railroad:  CSX  
Significance:  Confluence of several high traffic lines to one line through Folkston into Florida from the north.
