Devil's Gate Viaduct
Location: In the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic District, west of Denver Railroad: Georgetown Loop Railroad Significance: Reconstructed high trestle on the Georgetown Loop, a restored segment of a one-time narrow gage railroad serving Colorado's gold and silver mining areas. Location: West central California Google map Railroad: UP (ex SP), Amtrak Significance: One of two railroad crossings of the Sierra Mountains. The other, further north but through less steep terrain, is UPs Feather River Canyon route.
Location: West central Colorado Google map Railroad: UP (ex SP, ex DRGW), Amtrak Significance: Provided a true east-west link for the Denver & Rio Grande Western on the route between Denver and Salt Lake City via the Moffat Tunnel. The name of the route is derived from the southwestern starting point, Dotsero which in turn is a version of the original name - milepost .0 (dot zero)
