Description:   The City of Sedalia, founded in October 1860, is the seat of Pettis County in west- central Missouri.
Located 90 miles east of Kansas City and about 30 miles south of the Missouri River, Sedalia is located at the
intersection of US routes 50 and 65.  With about 26 trains per 24 hours including Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner
twice in each direction. Not a great amount of trains for the average railfan, but there are several points of interest
for the railfan.  Historic Katy Depot at 600 E. 3rd St. (N 38.70780, -W 93.22135) serves as Sedalia’s official
welcome center and does not see trains any more, but is at the trailhead of the 240 mile Katy Trail State park.
The Amtrak Station (N 38.71154, W 93.22779)  is on the Union Pacific main line and serves the Misouri River
Runner service from St. Louis to Kansas City.
 There is a railroad themed restaurant on US-65 south, Kehde's Barbeque (N 38.69523, W 93.25054) that serves
customers a vintage passenger rail car.  There is a Static Display of an old restored Katy Train, just recently installed
at the State Fairgrounds (N 38.69799, W 93.25114) worth looking at.

Discliamer: Locations like this are only descriptions and not neccessarily good locations to railfan, but have things that
would be of interest to most railfans, in my opinion. The pages do have enough information to judge for your own
interests.
Do you have info that you could share with me. I would welcome suggestions, additions, or corrections to this page (or
any page).  New info will be credited on the page. e-mail me at gregariousrailfan@gmail.com
