Description: A railroad with a euphonious name in my opinion, The Kankakee, Beaverville & Southern Railroad (reporting
mark KBSR) is a Class III Short Line serving Central Illinois and Western Indiana with 155 miles of track. It has a very
colorful and tidy world headquarters in Iroquois, IL (AKA Iroquois Junction) The KB&S serves a predominately
agricultural region of the Midwest. Its customer base consists of grain elevators and agri-chemical distributors. KB&S
interchanges with most major railroads -- CSXT, CN, NS and UP and with regional carrier, TPW.
Prior to about 2005 The railroad was famous for their fleet of Alco RS11's
I have visited this RR several years ago and taken pictures, but have yet to find them to post on this page. Bummer.
