Description                                                                                   3/5/2018
Brightline is  the country's only privately owned and operated high-speed passenger railroad.  In January 2018, the
company, owned by the same company that owns the Florida East Coast Railroad, implemented schedules for limited,
introductory service between West Palm Beach FL and Fort Lauderdale. Plans are to extend service to Miami later in
2018.  By 2020, Brightline plans to run up to 16 round trips daily between Miami and Orlando at speeds up to 120
mph, with stops at Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
Brightline's diesel-electric powered trains feature a variety of amenities, including retractable platforms that facilitate
easy boarding, bike racks, wide aisles and free wireless Internet.  Each of Brightline's five trains consists of two
locomotives and four passenger cars and can hold about 240 riders.
The company has marketed the railroad to Millennials and business travelers as a faster and more convenient alternative
to Florida's often-crowded highways. Passengers can expect to travel between Miami and West Palm in about an hour
and between Miami and Orlando in less than three hours, according to the company.
Unfortunately the inauguration of service has been marred by 2 grade crossing deaths and three deaths prior to
inauguration day. See the You Tube video link below produced before the last death.
